Examinations
Every year, nervous parents and worried children wait until the last minute to get tutoring for their upcoming examinations – please don't do this! It takes time to turn learning around and prepare for these important examinations. While I will never refuse a student based on his or her ability, I reserve the right to refuse students who wait until the eleventh hour before exams.
When should you start tutoring?
When students are not quite at their desired level, or when they have ambitions of attaining a higher standard, it is wise to start tuition well before the exam – preferably at least a year ahead. The rule? The more specialised the exam (e.g., St. Paul's in London), the more time is needed.
A lot of consolidation and overlap, a technique a tutor cannot overuse for fear of disheartening or boring a young student, is necessary at any age.
